Green Flooring Cleaning Tips

Caring for your green flooring is no different than any other flooring. To make it last the longest, you want to do your best to avoid stains, scratches and wear. Carpet Care

  • Use a door mat at the entrances to your home to minimize the amount of dirt you and your family track in from outside. These mats should be cleaned regularly to ensure that they effectively remove dirt from the bottom of your shoes.
  • It is also a good idea to take off your shoes or wear a different pair inside the house.
  • Periodically rearrange your furniture to vacuum both high and low traffic areas. Pet owners should vacuum more frequently.

There are a wide range of environmentally friendly cleaners available today to choose from. We recommend you use one of these to clean and preserve the carpeting in your home.
  • Avoid exposing your carpet to long periods of direct sunlight to keep it from fading.
  • Consider having your carpet professionally cleaning about every 12 to 18 months.
  • Changing your air filters regularly will help eliminate the some of the debris that falls on to your carpet.

Hardwood Care

  • Avoid using wet mops and other liquid cleaners that could damage the surface.
  • It is also not recommended to use oil, wax or polish on hardwood floors.
  • To remove gum and other sticky substances, use ice to make it frail and then easily scrape off.
  • Use felt coaster pads that adhere to the bottom of furniture legs to avoid scuff marks and damages to the surface.
  • The humidity level in your home should be kept between 45 to 60 %.
  • Remember high-heels, cleats and sharp pet claws can scratch and indent your surface.

Natural Bamboo Flooring Care

  • Use a fine fiber broom to avoid scratching the surface.
  • Sweep and mop daily to help protect the coating on your bamboo flooring.
  • Place shoe cleaning mats at all entry doors and use non-abrasive rugs over high traffic foot areas.
  • Wash floors with a no rinse, clear drying cleaner and use a good quality micro fiber mop. Never use a wet mop and avoid cleaners that contain oil or other acidic agents.
  • Clean stubborn scuff marks and stains with a dampened cloth and/ or an approved cleaner, and dry the area off quickly.

  • The humidity level in your home should be kept between 30 to 50 %.

Natural Cork Flooring Care

  • To avoid fading, limit exposure to direct sunlight. Use drapes to block harsh sunlight.
  • Flooring will show wear in certain high traffic areas of your home sooner than other. Consider rearranging your furniture regularly to prevent premature wear.
  • Exposure to high levels of humidity can cause cork flooring to expand and contract. Therefore, the humidity level in your home should be kept around 50%.
  • Sweep your floor regularly to keep large particles from scratching the surface.
  • Only used cleaners designed for pre-finished hardwood or natural cork. These cleans should be used in moderation, misted over the surface as you clean.
